Rates as of 2026 (Etsy: $0.20 listing, 6.5% transaction, ~3% + $0.25 payment, US; Offsite Ads 15% or 12% on attributed orders). Payment and regulatory fees vary by country; verify in your Etsy account.

What Etsy actually charges

Etsy's fees stack up quietly. Every sale carries a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item and the shipping you charge, and payment processing of about 3% + $0.25 in the US. Together that is roughly 10% to 12% of a small order before you have paid for the product itself.

The big variable is Offsite Ads. If Etsy's external ads drive the sale, it takes 15% of the order (12% once your shop passes $10,000 in a year, at which point it becomes mandatory). That single fee can double Etsy's cut, so the calculator lets you toggle it.

Price so the fees do not erase your margin

Because Etsy taxes the shipping you charge too, padding shipping does not escape the fee. The reliable levers are your product cost and your price. Once you know your true margin after fees, you know what you can afford to spend on ads. Work that out in the Target ROAS calculator.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take per sale?+

On every sale Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item plus shipping, and payment processing of about 3% + $0.25 in the US. On a $30 item with $5 shipping that is roughly $3.78 in mandatory fees. If the sale came from Offsite Ads, add 12% or 15% of the order on top.

What is the Etsy transaction fee?+

6.5% of the total order, which includes the item price, the shipping you charge, gift wrap and any personalization fee. It is taken on every sale.

What are Etsy Offsite Ads fees?+

When Etsy advertises your listing off-site and it leads to a sale, it charges 15% of that order if your shop made under $10,000 in the last year (you can opt out), or 12% if you are at or above $10,000 (mandatory, you cannot opt out). It only applies to attributed orders, not every sale.

How do I calculate Etsy profit?+

Net profit = item price + shipping charged, minus your cost of goods, the shipping you pay, and Etsy's fees (listing + 6.5% transaction + payment processing + any Offsite Ads). This calculator does it for you and shows the take rate.

Are these Etsy fees accurate?+

They use Etsy's 2026 published rates as estimates. Payment processing and regulatory operating fees vary by country, so verify the exact figures in your Etsy Shop Manager.
